The Information Technology Infrastructure graduate certificate will focus on the practices and skills currently being used in support of the IT infrastructure. Students will gain valued knowledge and experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems, Windows server administration, virtualization technologies and network and security devices. Students will also have the opportunity to develop communication, interpersonal, project management and business skills to work effectively in the corporate world.
The program will include hands-on applications and simulations to provide students with marketable skills in operating systems, networks, and security and will contribute to preparing the graduate to write a variety of professional certification exams.
This program will provide a pathway to Fanshawe's graduate certificates in Information Security Management, Network and Security Architecture, and Software and Information Systems Testing.
Analyze and resolve enterprise information technology infrastructure (EITI) problems through the application of systematic approaches and diagnostic tools;
Determine business and stakeholder requirements for EITI solutions;
Participate as a member of a team, in the design, delivery, expansion and continual improvement of EITI solutions;
Use industry best practices, principles in project management and lifecycle management to successfully administer EITI solutions;
Automate routine tasks, baseline systems performance, and assess resource utilization using a variety of tools;
Participate as a member of a team to ensure the availability and integrity of information in enterprise data storage solutions;
Participate as a member of a team in the design and implementation of security by applying security protocols and knowledge of industry conformance practices;

Students Must Complete a Minimum of 11 credits in the Program at Fanshawe to meet the Program Residency requirement and Graduate from this Program.
Ontario College Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree or equivalent preferably in Information Technology (other academic backgrounds considered on a case-by-case basis)
Equivalent combination of related work experience and post-secondary education as judged by the College
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by one of the following methods:
A Grade 12 College Stream or University Stream English credit from an Ontario Secondary School, or equivalent, depending on the program's Admission Requirements
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 88 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test with an overall score of 6.5 with no score less than 6.0 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years.
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with an overall score of 70 with no score less than 60 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 59, with test results within the last two years
A Cambridge English Test (FCE/CAE/CPE) with an overall score on the Cambridge English Scale of 176 with no language skill less than 169, with test results within the last two years
An English Language Evaluation (ELE) at Fanshawe College with a minimum score of 75% in all sections of the test, with test results within the last two years
Fanshawe College ESL4/GAP5 students: Minimum grade of 80% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 9 or 75% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 10
Recommended Academic Preparation
Previous Business or Information Technology post-secondary education and/or training and/or work experience.
Applicant Selection Criteria
Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available spaces in the program, the Applicant Selection Criteria will be:
Preference for Permanent Residents of Ontario
Receipt of Application by February 1st (After this date, Fanshawe College will consider applicants on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full)
Achievement in the Admission Requirements
Graduates of this program will be employed in the computer support field as a Desktop and Application Support Technician, Computer Technician or Help Desk Technician. They are employed by computer hardware manufacturers and retailers, software developers, in call centres and in Information Technology units throughout the public and private sectors.
